We spent several hours a day looking for beach agates while on our trip. I have been collecting agates from beaches up and down the coast line my entire life. It has always been a hobby for all the members of my family. My dad taught us girls how to find them when we were young and then we have all taught the men in our lives. Pam finds hers and gives them away, the rest of us keep ours and pull them out for show on what we call "Bragget Night" this is when you lay out your find and show them off. We all have our own style of hunting and the results vary. The first picture is of my sisters and I on agate beach at the Patrick's Point State Park. The second picture is of the agates that James and I found on this last trip. We have collected thousands of them and have them on display in our home. The best part about looking for agates is being on the beach!
By request I have put down my trowel and washed the dirt from my hands so I can share a little of my creative world with you. The Creative Gardener was created out of the desire to combine all of my passions. Gardening, teaching, designing, writing, decorating and treasure hunting. This all takes place at my little red house with the white pickett fence surrounded by my garden that grows wild and happy!

Hey - glad to hear from you. Missed you on the blog. Didn't even make it to Sac this month. Sounds like you had a good trip. I brought back a few agates from OR, but my mom-in-law gave them to me. Glad to hear from you.
Hi, Jacque! Haven't been here for awhile and loved this particular post. As soon as I'm done, I'm going to google the definition of "agate" so I know exactly what you're talking about. Because as it turns out, I've been collecting rocks from the beach my whole life as well...For whatever reason (and WAY before the movie "Something's Got to Give" (LOL), I've collected the clearish white rocks...sort of like a quartz? I'm wondering if that is an agate? :)
Your photos made me want to hit the beach!
Nice collection of agates. Have a fun summer. Sandi
